Let’s take a moment to think of what comes to mind when you get invited to a networking event. A bad suit and a cheesy smile? A pile of stale crackers and bad red wine? (OK, maybe I’ve just gone to some weird networking events…)
Unfortunately, no matter how awful your past experiences have been, networking is here to stay. Because when it comes to a job hunt, starting your own business, or just achieving the most you can, a strong network is the key to reaching your career goals.
But there’s good news. Networking doesn’t have to be a cheesy, phony, intolerable affair. It can actually be pretty awesome. You just have to take the time to do these three things first:
